Dr. T. has over 40 years of experience teaching students of all ages. She has an M.A. in English and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Toronto, with a thesis on 19 th -century literature. She has taught on-line courses on the works of Dickens, Mary Shelley, Jane Austen, and Lewis Carroll—as well as Homer and Shakespeare. At the University of Toronto and Sheridan College, she offered courses on the Bible and Literature, Children’s Literature and Business Writing. For 23 years, Dr. T. worked at St. Clement’s teaching history and English, including both Advanced Placement English courses. |
Dr. Reutcke |
Dr. Reutcke completed her PhD in History at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2020, where she focused on British, religious, and book history. She has three articles published in academic journals, has spoken at conferences across Europe, and her doctoral thesis is currently being converted into a book. She has worked in historic house museums in the US as an educator and curatorial intern and most recently served as a Research Assistant on a digital humanities project exploring American Civil War monuments. |

Brian is a DPhil in Politics Candidate, Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, and tutor in Politics at St Anne's and Trinity Colleges, University of Oxford. He is a World Universities Debating Championships semifinalist and chaired the ESL Grand Finals of the same tournament, as well as the Open Grand Finals of the Australasian and North American Universities Debating Championships. Brian is also a geopolitical strategist and advisor publishing extensively on Sino-American relations, statecraft in Asia, and the intersection of nascent technologies, political philosophy, and public policy. |
Dr. Murray |
Dr. Murray holds a BA in economics from Trinity University, an MA in communication from Baylor University and a PhD in Rhetoric from the University of Georgia. Dr. Murray has coached high school debate since 2010 and college debate since 2013. His students have shown success at the local, state, and national level, including multiple national championships. Dr. Murray privileges argumentative flexibility, on-the-fly thinking, and creative navigation of the debate space. He currently serves as a professor of communication studies at the University of Georgia and SUNY New Paltz. |
Dr. Bradley Hald |
Dr. Hald earned his PhD in Classical Studies from the University of Toronto in 2020, capping over ten years of classroom study and field work on the ancient Mediterranean world. He has presented his research at academic conferences in multiple countries, worked at archaeological digs in Italy and Greece, and studied language in Germany. Bradley's teaching experience spans middle-school ages to undergraduate, and he has taught courses on Latin, Greek, ancient history, Greco-Roman mythology, classical literature, and bioscientific terminology. |
Mr. Will |
Mark Will earned his B.A. (History) at Union College in New York. He completed his M.A. degree in History at the University of Toronto. Mark earned his B.Ed. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) and has been an Ontario certified teacher since then. For the last 16 years, he has been teaching different history courses, including American History (AP and non-AP streams), at the middle- and high-school levels in Toronto, Canada. Mark was awarded a Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2022 in recognition of his commitment to academic success, his dedication to reaching all learners, and for connecting students' learning to the world around them. |
Mr. Calcagno |
Fletcher Calcagno holds an MA in Sociology from the University of Chicago and a BA in Asian Studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. At Chicago, he finished graduate level coursework in nonfiction writing, with an emphasis on historical and argumentative pieces. He currently teaches at the college level at Chicago City Colleges. There, he is employed as a lecturer in the department of social sciences at Wilbur Wright College, and helps students hone their analytic writing skills. He also teaches English, debating, public speaking, and writing courses remotely, specializing in classes for students from G6-G12. In the past, he has worked with students on a variety of writing formats, including college application essays, timed academic writing, and essay contests such as the NYT Summer Reading Contest. |

Christian holds his bilingual B.A in English at Glendon College in Toronto. He has received his TEFL certificate from the Teacher's College at Columbia University, and TESOL from Trinity College, London. During the 5 years he spent in China, Christian worked as a curriculum director and lead instructor for Disney English in Guangzhou, where he was not only in charge of front-line teaching, but also trained 12 foreign teachers on how to inspire students to help children engage in learning with positive emotions. His experience has molded his style online which is based on fun real-world language learning. |

Archie Stapleton has recently completed a Masters in Theological Studies at Harvard University in September, focussing on Indian Philosophy and Sanskrit, and previously graduated with an Honors degree in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia in 2020. Archie has coached debate for over 7 years, taking students to the break rounds at Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, Western Australian Debating League, BC Provincial championships, NSDL China, as well as having students who reached Team Canada. Currently, Archie is teaching Western Philosophy and Debate at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute in Himachal Pradesh, India. |
Mr. Bloom |
Zach recently completed his Masters in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia, where he was the recipient of the Canada Graduate Scholarship-Master’s research grant for his research into structuralist mathematical ontology. Zach has specialized in formal logic, the philosophy of mathematics, and metaphysics—but has also studied ethics, epistemology, and political philosophy extensively. A former High School and University BP debater, Zach has spent the last five years professionally coaching debate, earning breaks and victories for his students across North America and China, on both the NSDA and NHSDLC circuits. Zach is an expert in BP, PF, CNDF, and WSD. Most recently, Zach broke 5/7 PF teams at DLC Nationals, and coached a team all the way to the finals. Apart from debate, Zach has extensive teaching experience in Philosophy, Logic, Essay Writing, and Psychology. |

During a 20 year career in Toronto's most prestigious private schools, Mark served as a faculty advisor for the AP computer science, coding contest, and business startup clubs. He was also the chair of geography at Upper Canada College (UCC) as well as the geography online faculty member for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization. Prior to teaching, Mark worked as a programmer and software product specialist for companies in Los Angeles and Toronto. He holds a BA in urban planning, a post graduate diploma in Geographic Information Systems, an MA in urban planning and completed course work for a PhD in Geomatics Engineering. |

His passion for teaching and learning has been passed down to him from his parents who are both educators. Having lived and studied in Germany, Quebec, and China he has developed a passion for learning languages and cultures. Patricia Westerhof is the author of Catch Me When I Fall, a collection of linked stories, and of The Dove in Bathurst Station, which won the Word Award for Best Contemporary Novel. She co-authored The Writer’s Craft, a textbook on creative writing that’s been used widely across Canada. Her most recent manuscript, a novel-in-progress, was a finalist for the K.M. Hunter Award. Her short stories and articles have been published in Room, The West End Phoenix, Write Magazine, and Dalhousie Review. Westerhof holds an MA in Education from the University of Toronto and has more than thirty years of teaching experience. |

Liz has been passionately dedicated to shaping minds and inspiring learners around the globe for over 20 years. Her journey in education has been diverse and rewarding, encompassing everything from classroom teaching and curriculum design to mentoring, teacher training, and management. With a degree in Primary School Teaching and a strong foundation in Biology, Liz brings both creativity and depth to her teaching. She also holds two TEFL certifications and the prestigious Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) qualifications from the University of Cambridge, reinforcing her commitment to excellence in education. Throughout her career, Liz has had the incredible opportunity to teach in English academies across China, Latin America, and Canada. |

Maria Zukovs is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of St Andrews. Her research explores Dublin press coverage of the French Revolution. More broadly she is interested in book history, the history of communications and the Early Modern period. She has spoken at conferences across Europe and Canada. She has previously worked in museums and art galleries in Toronto, including as an art instructor and tour guide. |
Ms. Davis |
Lee Davis graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in American studies, and has been an educator ever since. She has seven years of experience as an online English teacher and writing coach. In her private lessons, she uses classic and contemporary literature and nonfiction as a forum for students to practice in-depth analytical and writing skills. She is also a grammar specialist, teaching two comprehensive grammar classes aimed at the high school level. As a writing coach, she has helped students craft essays that win awards and contribute to admissions into top colleges such as Harvard, Yale, Oxford, NYU, UC Berkeley and Wellesley. Her goal is for every student to find their voice and express themselves clearly, thoughtfully, and beautifully in writing. |
